Understanding Contrast Media Distribution Under Controlled CT Conditions

The behavior of contrast media plays a critical role in CT imaging, influencing image quality, diagnostic accuracy, and the evaluation of vascular structures. However, studying contrast media distribution under realistic, reproducible, and controlled CT conditions remains a significant challenge for researchers and device developers.

To address this need, gKteso collaborated with research and clinical partners to develop a CT-compatible perfusion phantom that enables controlled investigation of contrast media dynamics. The system creates a reproducible testing environment in which contrast agent distribution can be visualized and quantitatively compared across different injection protocols and flow conditions.

By systematically varying parameters such as injection timing, flow rates, and injection sequences, researchers can analyze how these factors influence contrast distribution throughout the phantom. This provides valuable insights for optimizing injection strategies, validating imaging protocols, and supporting the development of next-generation CT technologies.

The project demonstrates how advanced phantom technology can bridge the gap between laboratory testing and clinical reality, enabling more reliable research and accelerating innovation in diagnostic imaging.
